Wayne Lineker seen slumped in misery after being forced to close Ibiza clubs

Wayne Lineker has been pictured looking utterly miserable after being forced to close his Ibiza clubs.

The nightlife entrepreneur, 58, has to suspend his operations on the party island due to new coronavirus restrictions that ban pool parties and force nightclubs and cocktail bars to shut their doors.

It’s left Wayne with no choice but to shutter his famous Lineker’s Bar venue in Ibiza and he fears it won’t reopen until next year.

He may also have to close down his Ocean Beach club, but Wayne is yet to confirm his plans for the reality star-studded haunt.

In a post on Instagram, Wayne wrote: “The first to fall. As from today  @linekersibiza  is closed.

“Covid 1 Linekers 0 due to new government Covid legislation we are now closed.

“We may have lost the battle but we will not lose the war. But we’re healthy so still blessed …See you next year  #ibiza2021big#brokenheart.”

A statement posted on Instagram added: “Unfortunately it is with a heavy heart that Linekers Ibiza has had to close its doors for the remainder of the 2020 season.

“We would like to say a big thank you to all our customers and staff who have supported us and been amazing for the short period of time we have been open.

“We look forward to welcoming you in the near future with better news and conditions.

Wayne – brother of former footballer Gary Lineker – owns a nightlife empire believed to worth around £30 million.

He started out by launching a sports bar in Tenerife in 1988, which became known as Lineker’s Bar, and went on to roll out the brand across Spain.

Lineker’s Bar now has branches in the Costa del Sol, Majorca and Puerto Banus as well as Ibiza, where he also runs Ocean Beach – known as O Beach – a regular hang out for reality TV stars.

The Majorca branch is believed to be closing due to the new restrictions along with the Ibiza branch, while many bars and clubs in mainland Spain have also been shuttered.

The news of the closures comes at the end of a bad summer for Wayne, who recently hit headlines over a controversial stunt at O Beach Ibiza.

He was seen picking a date from a line-up of hot women dressed in skimpy swimsuits – and shoving the rejects into a pool.

The woman were all believed to be staff members who all work at his club in Ibiza.

The last one left was declared the victor and was given a hug by the club owner, who vowed to take her out on the town.

The stunt sparked outrage online and Wayne was viciously trolled with many branding him “a disgusting creep”.

He later released a statement reminding critics he’s a dad and their remarks could “hurt” his kids.

Wayne wrote: “I’m still here and going nowhere.️ I was trending No1 in the Uk on twitter yesterday with 75% love and 25% hate.

“But it was the hate that sparked the trending.. It’s the 75 that I care about…

“The rest of you mean absolutely nothing to me and never will so hate all you like.

“Just please remember I have children that I love and care about and your weirdo basement loser comments may hurt them and that’s not cool.

“Thing is 25 you all come and ask me for a pic pretending we’re mates. What’s that about…”
