US officials express concern that most of Hamas hostages in Gaza may already be deceased – New York Post

US intelligence officials have grim news regarding the fate of the 133 hostages being held by Hamas in Gaza, estimating that most of them are already dead. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also estimate that up to 34 hostages have died during the terror attack or while in captivity. Some American officials go even further, believing that the actual death toll is more than double the current estimates.

The dead hostages are believed to have succumbed to their injuries, illnesses, or IDF airstrikes. Among the hostages are five American citizens, although their status is uncertain. Additionally, Hamas is also holding two Israelis who were captured before the attack, as well as the remains of two IDF soldiers.

In a troubling development, Hamas has been unable to gather 40 living hostages for a proposed cease-fire agreement. Cease-fire talks have been delayed as Israel continues its airstrikes against Hamas sites. In response, Israelis have taken to the streets, demanding an immediate cease-fire deal to secure the release of the hostages.

Hamas has remained tight-lipped about the condition of the hostages, only releasing propaganda videos of a few individuals. The situation remains tense as both sides struggle to come to an agreement and bring an end to the hostage crisis. The international community is closely monitoring the situation, hoping for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict.
