Tower Bridge was trapped open up for a lot more than an hour, leaving hundreds of folks and autos stranded in central London.

The well-known crossing failed to near just after allowing for a ship to go along the River Thames on Saturday afternoon.

Pics show queues of motorists and pedestrians forming on both of those sides.

City of London Police stated engineers rushed to take care of the bridge. It has reopened to pedestrians but motorists have been urged to obtain yet another route.

A witness explained they overheard converse of “various failures” on stability radios.

Just one social media person explained: “I’ve been caught here for nearly an hour now…” while an additional wrote: “Yep, Tower Bridge definitely caught! One particular facet began to occur down but the other didn’t!”

The bridge connects the Square Mile financial district to Southwark.

In 2005, law enforcement shut the bridge for 10 hours after a technical difficulty meant the arms could not be decreased.

A Tower Bridge spokesman has been approached for comment.
