(CNN) – In the Czech capital Prague, people built a 1,600-meter table and held a large public dinner party on Tuesday to celebrate the end of the country’s coronavirus lockdown.

After the government removed restrictions at major meetings, residents of the region were lying on the city streets and on the famous Charles Bridge.

The Czech Republic quickly implemented a lock-up at the start of the global coronavirus epidemic and became one of the first countries to tell its citizens to wear a mask – it helped to avoid the worst of the pandemic and alleviate the restrictions before many other countries.

This meant that indigenous people could enjoy a show that lowered the jaw of eating outdoors, and could give up social distance to celebrate the country’s progress.

Everyone had to bring something to the party.

However, the World Health Organization has warned that the outbreak is not over, and the Czech Republic still prohibits many foreigners from crossing its borders – a rule that allows the event to take place.

“We want to celebrate the end of the coronavirus crisis by showing people that they are not afraid to meet others anymore.” They told the Agence France-Presse news agency, the event organizer, told Prague cafe Ondrej Kobza.

The Czech Republic has seen relatively few cases of coronavirus compared to its European neighbors.

“Everyone had to do something to be here, bring food or flowers. The idea was for everyone’s participation,” Kobza said. Said.

According to data from Johns Hopkins University, a country of about 10 million people saw about 12,000 cases of Covid-19 cases and 349 deaths in the Czech Republic. These figures are relatively low compared to some European neighbors.

On Tuesday, the European Union officially adopted a series of recommendations that would allow travelers from outside the bloc to visit EU countries months after closing their external borders in response to the pandemic.

As commonly expected, the list of 14 countries does not include the United States, which does not meet the EU-specified criteria for the current Covid infection rate to be considered a “safe country”.
