Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said that of active COVID-19 cases, less than 5% are people who have been fully vaccinated.

The minister held a press conference on Wednesday after the meeting of the Kovid-19 Scientific Committee.

He detailed the data related to the epidemiological situation in Turkey, while the country has recorded a significant increase in positive cases for several days, without the number of deaths following the same trend.

Minister Koca specifically mentioned that 87 percent of the active cases of Kovid-19 are people who have not completed their vaccination, no injection or only one injection.

He also shared statistics about hospitalization to further emphasize the importance of vaccination.

“95% of people hospitalized for Covid-19 are people who have not completed their vaccinations,” he said.

On the other hand, the rate of contracting the disease among vaccinated individuals is very low.

“Less than 5% of active cases of COVID-19 are people who have completely completed their vaccinations,” he stressed.

The minister also sought to recall measures of prevention, social distancing and hygiene, ensuring that vaccination is the best way to protect oneself, while reaffirming that “without securing adequate mass immunity, each release will hit the country’s borders.” that we don’t want to reach”.

Fahrettin Koca specifically invited people over 50 to inject the third dose, “which apparently strengthens immunity”.

“With almost 9 million people (over 50) waiting to take advantage of the third dose, I invite them to come in for their injections as soon as possible,” he said.
