Kansas Mayor Missouri received threats and racist messages with an order requiring city dwellers to wear face coverings while in public places – the worst of them was that they had to “swing from a tree” to implement the policy.
Quinton Lucas, black, shared the texts and the doctor’s photo On Twitter thread Monday – the mask order came into effect on the same day.
Order, announced last fridaywill be valid for two weeks.
Threats show a series of texts accusing the mayor of “not responding to whites”. The sender also seemed upset about the need for a mask and said, “What are the reflections not to wear a ring mask from Tuesday?”
Before Lucas responded, the sender kept saying the word n and hinted that the mayor should be lynched.
“You gotta shake from a tree, I’m not threatening, but I would love to see it,” they wrote.
When the mayor replied to ask how often a Kansas City Star sports reporter was, COVID has been going on since the start and continued throughout the protest movement and is now pretty neat from different ends, he said.
“Real racial muds and threats are rare. General antisocial comments are now typical. I think it will continue for a while, ”he said. Lucas wrote.
The other post showed a edited and unedited photo of the mayor and a side-by-side comparison that holds another t-shirt at a radio station.
The edited photo looks like Lucas and the other man holds t-shirts saying ‘Police ***’ and ‘Black Lives Matter’ – 96.5 ads of shirts in the original photo is the FM station he visited locally.
“Who takes a photo of the police smiling at a rock station?” the mayor asked.
