CDC Announces New COVID-19 Isolation Guidelines
On March 1st, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced updated COVID-19 isolation guidelines. According to the new guidelines, individuals who test positive for COVID-19 are no longer required to isolate for five days. Instead, they can leave home if they have been fever-free for 24 hours without medication and have mild symptoms.
Karen McGoldrick, a healthcare professional from Sentara Leigh Hospital, emphasized the importance of staying home if feeling ill. She also advised individuals to wear masks and stay in well-ventilated areas after returning to work.
For hospitalized patients, the CDC recommends a ten-day isolation period. Health officials at Sentara Hospital stressed the severity of symptoms for hospitalized patients and the need for proper isolation measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
The new guidelines come as a response to the declining COVID-19 cases in the country. However, health officials warn that the virus is still a threat and urge the public to continue following safety protocols to protect themselves and others.
