Nintendo’s Next Console Release Delayed to 2025, Sources Say
Rumors and leaks surrounding Nintendo’s highly anticipated next console release have been circulating for some time now, but it looks like fans will have to wait a little longer than expected. According to journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Libbe, information from five sources has revealed that the launch has been pushed back to early 2025.
Eurogamer has also reported similar whispers of an early 2025 launch, and sources from VGC have confirmed the delay, stating that Nintendo informed publishers that its next console will now launch in Q1 2025. This news comes after third-party companies were recently informed of an internal delay that shifted the release date from late 2024.
The delay is said to be attributed to Nintendo not having strong enough first-party titles ready for a late 2024 release. The successor to the popular Nintendo Switch has been a hot topic in the industry for years, despite there being no official confirmation of its existence.
Although fans may be disappointed by the delay, it indicates that Nintendo will likely follow the release schedule of the Switch, which had a release early in the year. In the meantime, Nintendo seems focused on giving the Switch a respectable end for 2024, with games like Princess Peach: Showtime! still set to release on March 22.
While the delay may be disappointing for eager fans, it seems that Nintendo is taking the time needed to ensure a successful launch for their next console in 2025. Stay tuned to Insider Wales Sport for more updates on Nintendo’s future plans.
