According to the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID), 20-year-old Guillen has been missing since April and was last seen in the parking lot of his barracks in Fort Hood on April 22. The remains were found on June 30.
“It was just a sad morning and weekend for us,” he said.
The main suspect in disappearance was Spc. Aaron David Robinson, who shot himself on Wednesday after confronting the investigators, according to the Killeen Police Department.
Khawam told the family that he had planned to file a harassment complaint against Robinson the day after Guillen’s murder, and believed that Robinson was furious when he told him. However, Robinson said he wanted to inform the authorities that Guillen had a relationship with a married woman, something the Guillen family was discussing.
Fort Hood officials said that they were not aware of sexual harassment reports about Robinson, but the investigation was ongoing.
Khawam told the researchers that the family was looking for a woman who was involved to help Robinson throw the Guillen’s corpse after moving it out of the base.
A woman identified as Cecily Anne Aguilar, the foreign wife of a former soldier from Fort Hood, was arrested by Texas Rangers for the disappearance of Guillen. CID said civilian authorities are awaiting a criminal complaint at Bell County Prison.
