Explosion in a Madrid building after a gas leak: three dead and one missing (new rating)

Madrid – At least three people were killed in a blast in a building in central Madrid on Wednesday afternoon, while a dozen people were injured, the government representative announced in Madrid, Jose Manuel Franco, Spanish.

One person is still missing after at least four floors of this building were destroyed, Franco said, adding that three injured people were shifted to the nearest hospitals, one of which is in critical condition.

The National Police has deployed 120 members of the Provincial Information Brigade, Scientific Police and Dog Police to search for potential victims in the wreck.

The sharp explosion caused by the gas leak destroyed several floors of the building at the retirement home and a school, near La Paloma Church in the Toledo district.

After the explosion, police proceeded to drive the elderly out of the retirement home. Several cars in the area were affected by the explosion.

An investigation has been opened to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
