Caitlin Clark Sets NCAA Record as Iowa Dominates Penn State in Big Ten Tournament
On Thursday night, Caitlin Clark made history as she broke the NCAA Division I record for the most 3-pointers in a season by a woman or man, finishing with an impressive 163. Despite a poor shooting night, Clark still managed to contribute with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists as Iowa defeated Penn State 95-62 in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals.
Iowa’s Sydney Affolter also had a standout performance, scoring a career-high 18 points to support Clark on the court. Penn State’s Leilani Kapinus led her team with 19 points, while Ashley Owusu added 18, but it was not enough to overcome Iowa’s dominance.
Iowa’s role players stepped up to support Clark as she struggled from beyond the arc, with the team maintaining control of the game and responding to Penn State’s attempts to cut the lead. Head coach Lisa Bluder praised her team’s performance, highlighting their resilience in the face of challenges.
With Ohio State eliminated from the tournament, Iowa now sets its sights on a second straight Big Ten title as they advance to face Michigan in the semifinals. Despite their success, the team remains focused on the present and taking each game at a time. Stay tuned to Insider Wales Sport for more updates on Iowa’s journey in the Big Ten Tournament.
