Fans are going wild in the fourth season of the Netflix drama The Crown, with the actress finally introduced to Princess Diana (played by actress Emma Corinne).
The streaming platform has released a popular video on YouTube called Bayanath the Crown: The True Story of Charles and Diana Australia Tour, which includes archival footage of the royal couple’s official visit down in 1973.
This 10-minute clip not only provides the context of this tour, but also demonstrates the extraordinary effort that goes into retrieving events properly for the audience.
The truth behind the drama: Netflix has released archival footage of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s 1983 tour of Australia, much to the delight of Crown fans.
In addition to file footage of key moments from the tour, British radio and television presenter Anita Rani left their journey behind, contributing to Emma Corrin and Josh O’Connor, playing Diana and Charles, respectively.
The new season of popular drama includes an episode about Charles and Diana’s tour of Australia and New Zealand almost four decades ago.
The footage shows the Royals in the Northern Territory, in contrast to a scene in The Crown where Uluru – also known as Ayers Rock – can be seen in the background.
Ms Rani mentions that the moment Diana broke her royal protocol over a glass of water in the heat made her more relative.
Emma added: ‘It amazes me that anyone was surprised that there is an element that he could not deal with or that he fought.’

Instead they used different locations around Spain and combined digital effects to make the settings suitable as antipodian.
The city of Malaga was used for Sydney, and the desert Uluru, near the port city of Almeria, was used as the backdrop for their travels.

The Netflix series, which aired from August 2019 to March 2020, rented extra with Australian accents to add to the Australian environment created in Spain.
With the Crown’s fourth series set to begin in the late 1970s, the Royal Family was busy protecting the line of inheritance by securing a proper bride for Prince Charles, who is still unmarried at 30.
