Sean Connery had dementia in his final months, his wife, Michelle Rokebrun, revealed.
Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, Rockbrunn said: “He had dementia and it fell on him. He got the ultimate desire to retreat without making any fuss. ”
Connery died in the Bahamas on October 90 at the age of 90, having been there since the 1990s. Rockbrun, who married Connery in 1975, said, “It wasn’t life for him.” He could not express himself later. At least he died in his sleep and it was just so peaceful. I stay with him all the time and he moves away. This is what he wanted. ”
Connery’s son Jason told the BBC, including his first wife Diane Cilento, “It’s a sad day for everyone who knew and loved my father and a sad day for all the actors around the world who enjoyed this great gift.”
Connery has played James Bond seven times on screen, including in the “unofficial” Bond film Never Say Never Again, including Alfred Hitchcock (Marni), John Houston (The Man Who We King), John Burman (Zardoz), Brian de Palma (The Has worked with directors including the Unqualified) and Steven Spielberg (Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade).
Several Hollywood personalities, including current Bond actor Daniel Craig, paid tribute to Connery, with Scottish Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon saying he was “heartbroken”.
Nicholas Cage, who starred with him in the 1996 action film The Rock, told the Guardian: “I admire Shawn. His wisdom, humility and ultimate honesty have guided me ever since I met him. The first movie star to lead a combination of drama, action adventure and comedy – he did it effortlessly and with dignity. ”
Finding Forrester director Gus van Sant says: “Working with movie hero James Bond was a kind of surrender. Shawn never invited me to play golf, because I think he was as authentic as a golfer, he was careful about who he played with, but he liked to go to very good restaurants and was able to tell some amazing stories. I’ll miss him.
