Three arrested as youths fire ‘missiles’ at police and civilians

Police have arrested three youths tonight for allegedly ‘throwing missiles’ at them and the public, according to a police report.

Over the weekend, Merseyside police complained of anti-social behavior in the West Derby Village area and asked parents to check where their children were.

In a Facebook post, Force asked ‘Do parents know where your kids are and what they’re doing?’

Police said they and members of the public had been verbally abused this evening and missiles were fired at them “while trying to keep people safe.”

As a result, three young men were arrested and taken home on charges of cycling, public order offenses and setting off fireworks.

A Mirside police spokesman said: “Parents, you know where your children are and what they are doing!

“This evening and yesterday evening we received numerous allegations of anti-social behavior in the West Derby Village area.

“Tonight, three youths have been arrested and taken home for a number of offenses including dangerous cycling offenses, public order offenses and possession of fireworks.

“Members of the public and officials have been verbally abused and fired missiles at people in an attempt to keep them safe.

“This behavior will not be tolerated and Morsicide Police will work with partners to identify anyone involved in this behavior or a violation of the Covid Prohibition.”
