There is a 10,000 10,000 fine at a wedding and event venue for hosting what has been described as a ‘dangerous and stupid’ wedding.

More than 100 people packaged on Tudor Rose in Southhall, London on Tuesday, just days before the city prepares to go on a two-dimensional lockdown.

Marriages are allowed but under current regulations they are limited to only 15 people, including staff.

Police said there was no ‘clear evidence’ of people complying with social distance at the event so they asked dozens of guests to leave to ensure compliance with the marriage law.

Londoners have been banned from mixing indoors since Saturday but can still meet in groups of six.

BCU Commander, Chief Superintendent Peter Gardner said: ‘This was a dangerous and foolish violation of the regulations, which were specifically designed to protect people from a deadly virus infection. Prohibitions on large gatherings such as weddings have been in place for months and very clearly there can be no excuse for this violation of the law.

‘There has clearly been no attempt by the venue owner to enforce the regulations or protect their sponsors – which is why we reported them for a 10,000 fine.

Everyone has a responsibility to protect themselves and their families from the coronavirus.

‘As the incidence of coronavirus increases across London, full Met officials will redouble their efforts to crack down on individuals and businesses that break the rules and put themselves and others at risk.’
