Ozzy Osborne’s former drummer, Lee Carlsley, has died at the age of 73.

The musician was being treated for prostate cancer.

He is best known for his performances on Black Sabbath Frontman’s critically acclaimed debut album, Oz’s Blizzard, and with him as the drummer for the heavy metal band Uria Hip.

Osborne wrote on Facebook: “I’ve seen Lee for 39 years but he lives on in the record he played for me.”

In a tribute posted on the band’s Twitter page, co-Uria hip member Mick Box wrote: “Lee was one of the most miserly people in the world, and he was also a brother.

“Life Bar had no interest in anyone and liked the fans as well as anyone who crossed his path! Rock my friend in peace.”

Born in 1949 in Bournemouth, Dorset, Kerslake joined Uria Hip in 1971.

In the early 1980s, he recorded a madman’s diary with Oz’s Blistard and Oz Osborne.

In 2004, along with bassist Robert Desley, Carlslake lost an application to the U.S. Supreme Court to claim royalties for work on two albums.

Kerslake revealed in December 2018 that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer but joined Uria Hip on stage for a performance in London the same month.
