Phillip Schofield confirmed that he and co-host Holly Willoughby will be taking a big break from This Morning – and that this will be their last week for months.
There has been much speculation over whether the pair could be jumping ship from ITV to BBC following a major shake-up behind the scenes of This Morning.
This forced the 58-year-old to reassure fans that he won’t be moving any time soon.
However, Phil did reveal today that they would both be taking a break after this week.
His comment came after he voiced his outrage over a Spin To Win contestant’s prize on the show – and went on to sneak them some extra money.
After ‘cheating’ the competition, Phil announced defiantly that bosses “can’t sack him” as he and Holly would soon be going on holiday.
Today, Mary from Aylesbury managed to take part in the competition today and was emotional as she revealed that she had been shielding during lockdown.
“After 112 days I went to see my daughter last Friday who had been isolating for two weeks because she was due to have surgery,” Mary explained.
Holly and Phil were desperate to win Mary some money and it landed on £500, which she was ecstatic about.
“Oh wow, thank you. Oh my goodness, that’s the best news ever,” Mary gasped. “I love you guys too.”
Phil then said that she also had the opportunity to win a ‘money can’t buy’ prize.
But after the bag was lowered down, Phil looked less than impressed when he looked inside and said: “Wow.”
“Oh, make it good,” Holly pleaded. “I really like Mary.”
Phil pulled out a box of rock salt and exclaimed: “Is that seriously it?!”
“Shall we have a rummage around to see what else we can find?” Holly suggested. “There’s hand sanitiser in there as well, apparently-“
“No, no, no,” Phil interjected and strolled over to the wheel. “I know I’m not supposed to, but…”
Phil then spun the wheel so the needle pointed towards £1,000.
Holly announced: “We’ve just boosted you to £1,000!”
Phil added: “We’re off for the summer on Friday so they can’t sack me!”
