Insider Wales Sport: Asteroid 2013 NK4 to Pass by Earth on Monday
A 2,000-foot asteroid named 2013 NK4 is making its way close to earth on Monday morning, with experts predicting it will pass by at 10:51 a.m. ET. The asteroid, which orbits the sun every 378 days, has an elliptical orbit that takes it between the orbits of Mars, Venus, and Mercury.
Despite its close proximity, the asteroid will not be visible to the naked eye and will require a telescope to see. The next time 2013 NK4 is expected to pass by earth is on April 23 next year at 7:12 a.m. ET. Those interested in catching a glimpse of the asteroid are advised to look for it in the dark sky on April 16 and 17 for better visibility.
