JESA Technologies today announced that it has been awarded a feasibility study for the MAP/DAP Granulation Plant for the Ammaru Phosphate Project in the Northern Territory of Australia.
The site is in the West Georgina Basin, approximately 220 km southeast of Tennant Creek, 270 km northeast of Alice Springs, 95 km from the Adelaide–Darwin Railway, and 1000 km from Darwin. The plant will be capable of producing 960,000 MT/year of granular fertilizer based on 50% MAP product and 50% DAP product.
The project aims to become a fully integrated fertilizer complex consisting of:
- Extraction of phosphate rock on site.
- A phosphate rock elevation plant.
- A phosphoric acid plant.
- Sulfuric Acid Factory.
- Ammonia plant.
- Granulation plant.
- Utilities, including raw water, water treatment plants (demineralization and reverse osmosis), power plants, auxiliary boilers and air compressors, storage by railways, import and export, etc.
- Ancillary services include gas pipelines, railway lines, housing villages and airfields.
- Darwin’s infrastructure, including port facilities, workshops, offices and control rooms.
David Ewell, Managing Director of JESA Technologies, said: “We are very pleased to be working with Verdent Minerals on this feasibility study. Following the successful project at Phosphate Hill, this will be our second MMT per annum MAP/DAP plant in Australia.
Chris Tziolis, Managing Director of Verdent Minerals, said: “We are delighted to welcome JESA to the Ammaru project. We look forward to incorporating JESA’s considerable granular expertise into this exciting value-added project, which will help Australia and the region’s phosphate- Can play a vital role in securing the supply of fertilizers based on ammonium, which is required in future.
