The Philippines saw two significant increases in May in the ISP Performance Index for Netflix, which is updated monthly to find which Internet Service Providers (ISPs) provide the best Netflix streaming experience during prime time.
Royal Cable and SKYCABLE both achieved 0.4 megabits per second (Mbit/s), from 2.6 to 3 Mbit/s.
Elsewhere, in Ecuador, ETAPA DSL/WiMax is achieving 0.4 Mbit/s, going from 2 to 2.4 Mbit/s. The Philippines and Ecuador are two of the 25 countries and territories with an average growth of 0.2 Mbps.
In Taiwan, four ISPs reported declining performance in May. Taiwan broadband drops from 0.4 Mbit/s to 3.4 Mbit/s. Meanwhile, HiNet, Taiwan Mobile and FarEasTone, fell 0.2 Mbps to 3 Mbps, 2.8 Mbps and 2.6 Mbps, respectively.
Elsewhere in Asia, Kuwaiti supplier BOnline reported a drop of 0.2 Mbit/s, up from 2.6 to 2.4 Mbit/s.
In Latin America, four ISPs are reporting declining performance. In Bolivia, COTAS drops by 0.2 Mbit/s and drops from 3 to 2.8 Mbit/s. In Argentina, the superchannel fell from 0.2 Mbit/s to 2.8 to 2.6 Mbit/s. In Colombia, Emcali drops by 0.2 Mbit/s and goes from 2.4 to 2.2 Mbit/s. In Trinidad and Tobago, blink drops from 0.2 Mbit/s to 2 to 1.8 Mbit/s.
In Europe, Icelandic supplier Hingidan recorded a 0.2 Mbit/s drop from 3.2 to 3 Mbit/s.
By May, 17 countries and territories had reached the highest level of performance. Germany, Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Hong Kong, Hungary, Israel, Norway, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, United Kingdom, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland and Thailand have average speeds of 3.6 Mbit/s.
The ISP Performance Index only pertains to Netflix service during prime time. This is not a general performance measure including other services/data that are likely to be under consideration on the ISP network.
