Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon 778G, a mid-range SoC designed for 5G and photography

Qualcomm announced a new SoC called Snapdragon 778G 5G. Engraved at 6 nm, it is intended for mid-range smartphones and will be equipped with future models of Honor, iQOO, Motorola, OPPO, Realme and Xiaomi. Qualcomm promises good performance for the game, thanks to the Adreno 642L GPU, but relies primarily on photos to make its new chip more competitive. Like the Snapdragon 888, the Snapdragon 778G features a triple image processor (ISP) and a new Artificial Intelligence engine, which allows it to process feeds simultaneously from three camera modules.

Thanks to its triple ISP, the Snapdragon 778G is capable, for example, of simultaneously using an ultra-wide-angle module, a wide-angle module, and a telephoto lens … provided that the manufacturer implements such a function Do, which is quite rare. Today. The Snapdragon 778G 5G can also record 4K HDR10 + video and supports staggered HDR sensors to enhance video recording.

Qualcomm’s new chip features the sixth generation of Qualcomm’s AI engine: the Hexagon 770 processor, capable of delivering up to 12 TOPS (compute operation per second), twice that of its predecessor.
