WhatsApp will provide customization options for its interface in hopes of keeping its users

WhatsApp: A new customization option is coming – Gecko

A few weeks ago, WhatsApp had skyrocketed, following its announcement to share some personal data with Facebook, migrating its users to Signal. Since then, messaging applications have multiplied their efforts to reconnect with their users through information campaigns or new features and it seems to be continuing. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is actually testing a new feature that allows users to customize the colors of the application.

This is specifically a question of modifying the color of the text, but also of certain icons. There is nothing revolutionary, but this aesthetic change shows that Facebook – the parent company of WhatsApp – wants to offer more customization options to its users. A way to make the app more user-friendly and make members more involved.

GDPR protected European users

Will Facebook manage to tell people that WhatsApp is bad with this kind of feature for a few weeks? Hard to say From May 15, WhatsApp users will still be forced to accept the new policy of sharing some personal information between the messaging app and Facebook, at the risk of which will no longer use all the features of WhatsApp.

Remember that changes in WhatsApp data usage policy are less significant in Europe. GDPR protects user data and prevents its commercial reuse. Therefore, to improve the ads or commercial products of the WhatsApp group “will not be able to share European users’ data with Facebook,” a spokesperson for Facebook France said.
