The first version of Photoshop originally compatible with Apple Silicon Architecture has just been unveiled by Adobe. Available as of today, it eliminates the need for Rosetta emulation and Adobe promises performance at 1.5x better than what was possible on Intel Macs preceding the Mac Mac chip.

Adobe says this is only the beginning and performance will improve again with future software updates. In addition, not all features of Photoshop are available in this first version for the Mac M1: it lacks some of the recently implemented special features, such as invitations to edit documents in the cloud or synchronization of presets. You will understand, this is not a beta version, but it is almost like it. Adobe considers this version better than the best for x86 processors emitted via Rosetta overall, which can be problematic at times, but should not be expected to be perfect. In the event of a problem with this new version, there is still a possibility with Rosetta to force its opening.
