The United Kingdom on Thursday announced the closure of its borders for non-residents coming from the United Arab Emirates, including Dubai, which is very popular with tourists, so that a version of the coronovirus appearing in South Africa Imports can be avoided.
The ban, which also targets Rwanda and Burundi, will come into force at 1:00 pm (local) on Friday afternoon, the Transport Ministry said in a statement. This does not apply to British and Irish citizens, nor to people living in the United Kingdom, who must submit to the United Kingdom on their return for ten days of quarantine.
“Generally, this exemption will not apply, especially for business travel,” the ministry said.
Direct flights from Emirates will also be banned.
The announcement catches a number of tourists set up in Dubai, one of the seven princely states of the United Arab Emirates, where doors remain open to them despite increased contamination.
The media has in recent weeks been criticized by a number of British influencers for moving to their country to imprisonment and Dubai, staging themselves in photographs published on social networks and justifying their visit for professional reasons.
