Libyan Forum for Political Dialogue

Governments of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States welcome a vote by the Libyan Political Political Forum (LPDF) on the selection mechanism for a new interim executive body to lead Libyan national elections on 24 December. This is an important step towards the unity of Libya. The LPDF decision reaffirms the unambiguous demands of the Libyan people that it is time to change the status quo. We encourage all Libyan parties to urgently and in good faith finalize the LPDF’s approval of a unified and inclusive government. As a participant of the Berlin Conference and an international partner of Libya, we will fully support the efforts of LPDF.

We also welcome the appointment of Jan Kubis as the Secretary-General of Libya by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, as well as the appointment of Raisedon Zenenga as the coordinator of UNSMIL and the Humanitarian Coordinator as coordinator for residential buildings and humanitarian coordinator. Let’s welcome them. to roam around. We would like to thank Stephanie Williams, the Special Envoy of the United Nations, for her unwavering leadership in UN arbitration until Mr. Kubish takes office.

One year after the Berlin Conference, we underline the important role of the international community in supporting a political solution in Libya, as well as our continued involvement with members of the Berlin Process. We remind members of the Berlin Process of the Summit a year earlier, reaffirmed by UN Security Council Resolution 2510. In particular, we must continue to support the ceasefire, fully honor UN weapons and end toxic foreign intervention, which restores the sovereignty of all Libyans, and peace through national elections Is reducing the aspirations of choosing its future. It is important that all Libyan and international actors support steps to fully implement the Libyan Armistice Agreement, signed on October 23 last year, including the immediate opening of the coastal road and the elimination of all foreign fighters and mercenaries.
